On behalf of our school family,

I am proud to welcome you to Woodley Primary School.

I am Pete Langridge, the Headteacher of Woodley Primary School. I am delighted you have taken the time to learn more about our wonderful school.

At Woodley, we care.

We are a happy, nurturing and inclusive school where a family of staff, governors, families and children work together to create and maintain a fantastic school for our community. We embody our CARE values in everything we do: we are confident and creative; we aim high to be ambitious; we are responsible, resilient and respectful; and, through all of these, we show that we are a school where everyone matters.

We care about each other.

Our school offers a safe and respectful environment built on positive relationships and mutual respect between staff, children and families. Visitors to our school always comment on the warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the school – we are the ‘Woodley family’. School and parents work in partnership to ensure that throughout their school journey, children are encouraged, make progress and achieve their full potential.

We care about our achievements.

Our talented and dedicated team of staff are committed to raising standards and have consistently high expectations of pupils both academically and socially. Our aim is to provide children with a broad and balanced curriculum, as well as the encouragement required to ensure that every individual achieves their best, whether that is academically or personally. Our children enjoy learning the ukulele, getting muddy during outdoor learning and performing Shakespeare as part of the Children’s Shakespeare Festival at the Lowry Theatre in Salford.

We care about the world.

We are committed to placing the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child at the heart of our school ethos; believing that pupil voice and participation is vital to all areas of school life. Our aim is to empower children to know and understand their own rights, as well as advocate for the rights of children everywhere. Our school fosters a sense of community, respect and responsibility and encourages the children to be active and informed citizens, both locally and globally.

Whilst this website will give you a sense of our child-centred ethos, I invite you to come and see us at work in order to gain a better understanding of what Woodley has to offer. Please do not hesitate to contact us on 0161 430 6609 and arrange a visit; you will always be made very welcome.
