Welcome to our Year 2 page! We teach a broad and balanced curriculum and our Woodley CARE values are at the core of everything we do. We all enjoy taking part in creative lessons which challenge our resilience and encourage everyone to aim high whilst being responsible and respectful individuals. Year 2

Homework

Reading – this should be done a minimum of 3 times per week but daily if possible

Times Tables Rockstars – 15 minutes per week

Written activity – this could be spelling, handwriting or maths.

Homework set on a Friday and due in the following Friday.

Reading at Home

Children in Year 2 bring home a banded book (unless they are a free reader) and a choice book and these are changed on a Friday. We ask that children read shorter banded books (up to around level 15) at least 3 times before changing them. 

1. First read – decoding (sounding out words)
2. Second read – comprehension (understanding the text)
3. Third read – fluency (reading smoothly and confidently)
