Keeping Children Safe
As you know the safety and well-being of the children here at Woodley Primary School is our top priority. This is called safeguarding.
Safeguarding children and young people means protecting them from abuse or neglect and getting the right support in place as early as possible. We want our children and young people to feel safe, healthy and thrive. Keeping children safe at Woodley is everybody’s responsibility and you might be surprised to hear that this also includes you – our school family and community!
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999 straight away.
If you’re worried a child is being abused or neglected
It’s not always easy to know if a child or young person is being abused or neglected. You might’ve noticed bruises but aren’t sure if they’re from playing or from being physically abused. Or you might be worried a child is being neglected because you often hear them crying in distress.
Knowing the signs of abuse can help. But it’s important to remember that every child is different. The NSPCC’s support and advice can help you decide what to do if you’re worried about a child.
If you are worried about a child and they are NOT in immediate danger, there are a few things you can do:
Contact the Stockport MASSH
The Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH) is the single point of contact for the public and professionals to report concerns, request advice and share information about a child and/or family. Visit the website or call 0161 217 6028.
Contact the NSPCC
NSPCC voice helplines are open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm. You can email help@nspcc.org.uk or complete their online form at anytime.
