Personal Development

We are proud of the amazing young people who leave our school. They embody our school CARE values, and show that they care about each other, their achievements and the world. At Woodley Primary School, personal development means nurturing the whole child by instilling cultural capital, strong character, equality and diversity, safety and wellbeing and fostering a vibrant sense of community.

Our plan for personal development is designed using a three tiered approach: our curriculum; whole school strategies and targeted personal development. This is based upon EEF guidance and influenced by our UNICEF Rights Respecting culture. We also make responsive changes where necessary.

Personal development at Woodley Primary School covers the factors designated by Ofsted to contribute to pupils’ overall personal development. These include: British Values (Democracy, Liberty, the rule of law & tolerance), SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural), character education, healthy lifestyles and how to be safe.
