WELCOME TO WOODLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL
PTFA - Parent Teacher Friends Association
Registered Charity No 1054281
The PTFA (Parent, Teacher, Friends Association) is a group of individuals who work alongside school to raise money to support additional extra-curricular resources and activities to improve the experiences of children who attend school.
The current team expressed an interest and were elected at the AGM in July 2025

If you’d be interested in joining please send a message or speak to one of us anytime.
Typically, over the school year, the PTFA run activities and events in line with seasonal periods. These will be fun and engaging for children and families but with the aim of raising money to be spent within school.
We want to thank every single parent and teacher for any help and support throughout the year – we could not do this without you!
These are some example activities we have enjoyed since September 2025:
- Woodley Wonder Bars for Roald Dahl Day
- Cinema Night – an open-air movie night in the school playground, showing The Greatest Showman
- Halloween Disco for all the children
- Pre-loved Halloween costumes and Christmas jumper rail
- Christmas Art – children created their own Christmas picture, which could be turned into a special keepsake
- Non-Uniform Day in exchange for your very generous donations
- Christmas Fair
- Storytime with Mrs Christmas
- Elfridges – where children could secretly buy gifts for their loved ones
- Tidying up the KS2 planters in the playground
We also look to complete external bid opportunities to bring in additional funding for specific projects or items.
Examples:
- TESCO – play areas aligned to OPAL – unsuccessful
- CO-OP – play areas aligned to OPAL – unsuccessful
- Screwfix – capital costs for OPAL areas – unsuccessful
- Stockport Hydro – play areas aligned to OPAL – awaiting outcome
- SMBC Ward Flexibility Fund – forest school – ongoing
- Alpkit Foundation – outdoor educational areas and forest school – ongoing
The Parentkind Constitution states that the funds should benefit all pupils and enhance or enrich their time at school, so there are strict rules on how it can be used.
The Constitution can be found here:
The school decides what they need us to fund, then as a committee we approve or decline requests as appropriate and in line with the constitution.
We have proposed three categories of funding requests to ensure that funds raised can be used effectively.
CAT 1 – 50% – saving up for big items to support OPAL and enhance the school grounds
CAT 2 – 30% – funding to support classroom resources and enhance the fun and learning further children in school
CAT 3 -20% – one off requests and funding for event set up
25/26 Requests:
- Forest School – declined due to available funds, but seeking external funding to try and support
- Storage bins for school OPAL – declined to fund as this does not support every child
- Coach to panto – agreed to fund £600 to keep costs to parents at 2024 prices
- Volunteering to improve the planters on school grounds
- Delivery costs for OPAL materials – £120 – TBA
Examples of how the money has been used in 25/26:
- Amazon Wish Lists created for each class to support classroom resources, with £50 per class to spend on resources to enrich learning
- Coach transport funded for the local pantomime at Romiley Forum
- A special visit from Santa to school
- A magician visit to the school
- A Christmas decoration for every child to hang on their Christmas tree
