DISCOVER MORE ABOUT OUR
Pupil Parliament

Launching in September 2024, our Pupil Parliament gives all children an opportunity to explore democracy and be actively involved in the way that the school is run. Via their Class Ministers, Children can communicate their opinions as well as influence the decisions that are made on their behalf, suggesting improvements to how the school is run.
At the start of each new school year we hold elections for our Pupil Parliament. The children are elected to the Pupil Parliament by their peers and the teachers. Each class, across Years 1 – 6 votes for one child from their class to be their Class Minister. Year 6 vote for two children per class as they will also represent Nursery and Reception.
Our Class Ministers work alongside our leadership team, including the Headteacher and our subject leaders, to develop our curriculum. They take part in pupil voice activities and learning walks around the school. Our Pupil Parliament has a ‘School Cabinet’ with a Primary Minister, Deputy Primary Minister and Ministers for different departments. For example, the Health and Safety Ministers will take part in health and safety walks around the school, the Sports Ministers will work alongside our PE Lead to develop sports within our school and the Education Ministers will be involved in the development of our Curriculum, feeding back pupils’ views about the new curriculum to the class teachers to inform future planning.
The Pupil Parliament can also be responsible for leading specific projects in the school. This year our projects will be focused on Sports and PE and Community (Inclusion and Diversity).
