At Woodley Primary School, we encourage our children to develop a curiosity about the past. Through the use of quality texts, sources of information, artefacts, special visitors and exciting educational trips, we hook the children in to try and find the answer to an enquiry question. History is such an exciting subject, as it helps children understand the complexity of people’s lives and the process of change, which has all impacted on where we are today. Our children are taught to have an understanding of chronology from the earliest times to the present day, enabling them to better understand society and the wider world that we live in. We equip our children with the vocabulary, knowledge and skills to be a historian. Through the History curriculum at Woodley, we encourage our children to aim high and be ambitious with their thinking by encouraging them to; ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. Without History, there would be no future!
