Welcome to our Year 3/4 page! We teach a broad and balanced curriculum and our Woodley CARE values are at the core of everything we do. In Year 3/4, we encourage everyone to be ambitious and aim high whilst being responsible and respectful individuals. We aim to help the children to feel confident, creative and resilient in their learning, with an understanding that everyone matters. We hope this page provides an opportunity for you to see some of the activities the children will experience in Year 3/4.

Homework
Reading – children should be reading a minimum of 3 times per week (daily if possible).
Times Tables Rockstars – children completing 15 minutes per week.
Written activity (this could be spelling, handwriting or maths).
Homework set Tuesday and due on the following Tuesday. Children are rewarded with a Dojo point for completing their homework.
Reading at Home
Children in Year 3/4 bring home a banded book (unless they are a free reader) and a choice book and these are changed on a Tuesday. We ask that children read shorter banded books (up to around level 15) at least 3 times before changing them.
- First read – decoding (sounding out words)
- Second read – comprehension (understanding the text)
- Third read – fluency (reading smoothly and confidently)
